East Midlands Trains.

In 2007, Stagecoach unexpectedly won the franchise to run trains on the newly-created East Midlands network. Working at Communiqué 360, I was given just three months in which to create the visual identity for the new train company, with the brief to be the ‘sexy cousin’ of South West Trains.

Having rapidly developed a new look & feel, I then not only wrote and designed the brand guidelines, but recreated every single piece of collateral for the entire company from tickets to posters, station signage to route maps, timetables to ticket machines. This included bespoke information posters for each of the 89 stations operated.

I advised on digital assets, staff uniforms, seat fabric & carpet designs for new trains, and even platform branding at the the then about-to-be-opened St Pancras Station. I also developed sub-brands – and corresponding assets – for the five Community Lines that formed part of the new network.
